CBRssFeeds is a free, very basic, no-frills way to add ClickBank affiliate ads to your website. Simply go to the website and sign up. It's free at the time of this writing, but it appears that may change at some future time. Near the bottom of the page, right below the credit card graphic is a link for the free signup form.

This site is very basic, and really has four pages: the main cbrssfeeds.com page, a signup page where you enter the usual basic information including your name, email address and ClickBank ID, and create a password, the members page (what I call the "how-to" page) that shows you how to use the service, and a configuration page.

Once you fill out the signup page you click the "Add User" button at the bottom of the page. You're then sent to the how-to page.

Important: Be sure to bookmark the how-to page. Best we can tell, the logout link is only to log you out of the configuration page. Once you're a member you want to return to the how-to page; from there you can go to the other pages.

The how-to page shows you the basic script configurations for implementing an RSS feed, using php or Javascript on an HTML page, and how to implement a search box. All three of these are shown here; naturally they all have the same text...

No script or software installation is required and no editing work for the product ads. Simply choose the category or subcategory of ClickBank products, then add the parameters to the feed links and add it to your website code. Just take a look at the source for each of the versions of this page to see how the iframe, searchbox and php code was implemented.

Notice that the category and keywords are hardwired into the code, so it's possible to display advertisements using categories and keywords that aren't relevant to the page content.

The main page of the site says this application can be used for other RSS feeds besides ClickBank, such as news and blogs, but that's beyond the scope of this review (and may be covered in the future).

While the ads are only displayed in a vertical column, you can specify multiple ad blocks each displaying a single ad, and display them in side-by-side columns. Which brings up another problem: if you specify exactly the same category and keywords you'll get exactly the same ad in each column. If you select the same category, try to select a different enough keyword to ensure a different ad in each column.

  • Positives:
    • Free
    • Very simple to set up
    • Requires minimal resources and skills
    • You have to really sweat to mess it up
  • Negatives:
    • No control over formatting
    • No automatic spidering
    • Ads can only be displayed vertically
    • Requires fiddling with block length to avoid truncation
